FASTRO designation recognizes sustained achievement and service to radiation medicine and patient care
Dr. Steven Finkelstein, MD, DABC, FACRO, has been selected as a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO), the world’s largest professional organization in radiation oncology. Dr. Finkelstein is one of 39 ASTRO members selected for the 2026 class and will be recognized at ASTRO’s 68th Annual Meeting in Boston on Tuesday, September 29.
First awarded in 2006, the FASTRO designation recognizes sustained achievement and service to ASTRO, the field of radiation medicine and patient care. The honor has been awarded to just 580 of ASTRO’s more-than 10,000 members worldwide.
“ASTRO Fellows represent the leadership, expertise and commitment that strengthen radiation oncology,” said ASTRO CEO Vivek S. Kavadi, MD, MBA, FASTRO. “This designation reflects Dr. Finkelstein’s longstanding contributions to the specialty and commitment to patient care, and we are proud to honor him as part of this year’s class of Fellows.
Dr. Finkelstein serves in the following roles:
- National Director of the Center of Advanced Radiation Excellence (CARE) and Director Radiation Oncology Research, Associated Medical Professionals / U.S. Urology Partners
- Chair of Board, The Luther Brady Foundation of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO)
- Board of Chancellors, American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO)
Dr. Christopher Pieczonka, MD, CEO of AMP and Corporate Director of Clinical Research for U.S. Urology Partners, stated, “This recognition reflects Steve’s lasting impact on the field of radiation oncology and the countless patients whose lives have been improved through his care.”
Dr. Daniel Vanderbilt, AMP Radiation Oncologist and colleague, commented “Fellowship is awarded to a highly select class of leaders based on contributions to the field. It’s the Hall of Fame for Radiation Oncology.”
Dr. Finkelstein’s selection as a FASTRO recognizes a career dedicated to clinical excellence, innovation, patient advocacy, and the advancement of radiation oncology. This honor reflects the respect he has earned from colleagues across the nation and underscores his contributions to improving outcomes for patients with cancer.
