Interventional radiology (IR) is a medical specialty that performs minimally invasive treatments using radiologic imaging for procedure guidance. Interventional radiology treatments have become the primary method of care for a variety of conditions. IR treatments can offer less risk, less pain and shorter recovery time compared to surgery.
Dr. Atassi completed fellowships in Nuclear Medicine at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and in Interventional Neuroradiology from the University of Ottawa, Canada. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Damascus, his training also includes fellowships in Abdominal Imaging and Interventions, Body Imaging and MRI.
He is certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) and by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Neuroradiology, Diagnostic Radiology and Diagnostic Physics.
Dr. Atassi’s professional association affiliations include the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) and Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS).
