Joel S. Bass, M.D.

Dr. Joel Bass graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1984. He completed his surgical and urological training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. He went on to complete a fellowship in Female Urology, Urodynamics and Prosthetics at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Bass specializes in the treatment of female and male urinary incontinence and female urology including pelvic floor reconstruction. Dr. Bass is also active in clinical research, with multiple ongoing clinical trials investigating urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hypertrophy, and prostate cancer.

Dr. Bass has been certified by the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association. He has authored or co-authored articles in the Urologic Clinics of North America and other Urologic publications.

Dr. Angelo DeRosalia received a bachelor of sciences from Cornell University followed by his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then completed his surgical and urological training at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, affiliated with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

He is a recipient of numerous awards and the author of several publications. Dr. DeRosalia has made presentations at multiple national annual American Urological Association meetings as well as the New York Academy of Medicine.

He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists.

He treats men and women for a wide variety of urologic conditions with a particular interest in minimally-invasive therapies for the treatment of prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, BPH, stone disease and incontinence.

Dr. Herbert James graduated from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1989 and completed his post doctoral surgical and urological training at the University of Buffalo in 1994. He has been in private clinical practice since that time. He has been certified by the American Board of Urology and remains a member of the American Urological Association.

Dr. James practice has been centered on general urology with emphasis on management of prostate malignancy and benign prostate diseases.

Dr. Kardjian Dr. Kardjian is certified by The American Board of Urology. He is the founder of CNY Urology, P.C. He has been in the practice of urology since 1985.

He has a special interest in reconstructive surgery, especially for problems of female urinary incontinence and cystocele, rectocele and prolapse repair. Dr. Kardjian completed his urological training at SUNY Health Science Center, in Syracuse.

He is a member of The American Urological Association, The American Medical Association, NYS Medical Society, NYS Urological Society, The Society of Urology and Engineering, and the Endourological Medical Society.

Po N. Lam, M.D. Dr. Po N. Lam is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He completed his surgical training from the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center. He went on the receive his urologic training at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Lam finished his fellowship training in the area of Endourology, Laparoscopy, and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Lam's specialties and interests are complicated stone disease, endourology, and laparoscopic & robotic surgery. He serves as the Director of Robotics Surgery at Community General Hospital. Dr. Lam has performed hundreds of robotic procedures in Central New York. He is certified in da Vinci robotic surgery and serves as a proctor for Intuitive Surgical, Inc.

Dr. Lam is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He has several peer-reviewed scientific publications and presented his work at national and international meetings. Dr. Lam is a member of the American Urological Association, Endourological Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons, and Minimally Invasive Robotic Association.

Dr. Andres M. Madissoo is a 1994 Graduate of the Universty of Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his postdoctoral Surgery and Urologic Surgery training at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and its Affiliate Hospitals in 2000. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Urology and member of the American Urologic Association.

Dr. Madissoo's specialties and interests include laser procedures for renal stones and benign prostate disease as well as prostate malignancy. He is certified in the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.


Wael Muakkassa, M.D.

Wael Muakkassa

Dr. Muakkassa is certified by the American Board of Urology. He joined our practice on February 1, 2007. He was in practice in Cortland, Liverpool and Fulton areas in New York for the past 10 years. Prior to that, he was in urologic practice in Southern California for 8 years. He had held academic positions at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and American University of Beirut in Lebanon prior to going into private practice. Dr. Muakkassa had surgical training at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo and had completed his urological training at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He also completed a Fellowship in renal transplantation surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

He has expertise and interests in many aspects of urology, including urological cancer, prostate problems, male and female incontinence with reconstructive procedures for incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, vasectomy, laser and Shock Wave therapy for kidney stone disease. He is also trained in laparoscopic and robotic assisted laparoscopic techniques.

He is a member of The American Urological Association, The American Medical Association and New York State Medical Society. He also had been a member of The American Society of Transplant Surgeons.


Bashar Omarbasha, M.D.

Dr. Omarbasha

Dr. Omarbasha completed his urology residency at Boston University Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard University Medical School. He then spent three years in a fellowship program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, focusing on the treatment of urological cancers.

He has a special interest and expertise in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction, and male and female incontinence.

Dr. Omarbasha has been conducting Phase III clinical trials on behalf of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the pharmaceutical companies investigating new anti-cancer drugs for the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer. He also participated in Clinical Trials for evaluation of new treatment for Hypogonadism (low testosterone) and sexual health related studies.

Dr. Omarbasha is a clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Urology at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. He is involved in training residents and medical students. He is a member of The American Medical Association, The American Urological Association, The International College of Surgeons, The Sexual Medicine Society of North America, The New York State Medical Society, and The New York State Urological Society.

He authored multiple publications and book chapters, and he extensively lectures in the areas of Urological Cancer and Sexual Dysfunction. He has been in practice since 1990.

Dr. Sasha Pavlov-Shapiro completed medical school at the University at Buffalo in 2003.

Dr. Pavlov-Shapiro also completed his residency in General Surgery and Urological Surgery from 2003-2008 at the University at Buffalo. His training included general urology, endoscopic techniques, laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.

Dr. Christopher Pieczonka graduated from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine in 1997. He then completed his surgical and urologic training at SUNY at Buffalo Consortium Program in 2003. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is an active member of the American Urological Association. Dr. Pieczonka also has been co-author of publications in the Journal of Urology.

Dr. Pieczonka is currently the Executive Vice-President of the Physician Teamster Alliance of CNY Local #1149 and has a speciality interest in the treatment and prevention of kidney stone disease.

Dr. Elan Salzhauer is a Board Certified Urologist treating a wide range of Urologic conditions but specializing in Oncology, Robotic Surgery and Laparoscopy. He has a special interest in treating prostate and kidney cancer and believes in a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of these diseases.

Dr. Salzhauer received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, his Medical School training from SUNY Upstate Medial School and his Urology training from SUNY Downstate Medical School in New York City. He completed sub-specialty training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, focusing on prostate, kidney and bladder cancers. Dr. Salzhauer's research has been published in the Journal of Urology, the British Journal of Urology and the Journal of Pediatrics. He has presented his work at several international meetings. He has won several awards including a prestigious teaching award and he is a member of several major medical and urological associations.

Dr. Salzhauer moved back to the Syracuse area after residency with his wife who is a native of Cazenovia. They have two small boys and love being back in Upstate New York.

Dr. Temes was raised in the Catskill Mountain region of New York. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and of SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he also did his graduate medical education in Surgery and Urology. He has done research and graduate studies at Syracuse University, the Woods Hole Biological Institute in Woods Hole, MA, and the Weitzman Institute in Rehovot, Israel.

He has been a Urologist in Syracuse since 1979 when he finished his United States Air Force commitment. He practices primarily at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, and enjoys the mix of an active office practice and its interaction with patients, and the challenge of an evolving surgical specialty.

He lives in Manlius with his wife and has two grown sons.
